Aconite
It is a small plant, about a foot (30 cm) high with pale, divided green leaves and yellow flowers. The stem is firm, angular and hairy. The flowers, large and hooded, grow on top of the branches in spikes. The root is tuberous. It is a native of the Alps, but it is planted in gardens. The seeds ripen towards the end of the summer.

The root is used in the preparation of homeopathic remedies.
